Avoid this location for Auto-related work at all costs! Took car in to get winter tires on October 2017. They cross threaded a bolt which snapped as I drove to Nanaimo. The Nanaimo shop fixed (free of charge) and told me it was likely someone who didnt know what they were doing at the Port Alberni shop. Took car in to get summer tires on in May 2018. When took car in to get winters on October 2018 was told a bolt had snapped while removing because had been cross-threaded by whoever put on summer tires. Store manager George did not believe his shop had done the summer tires as it had been taken in by a family member and was under a different phone number. After a rude and belligerent denial and refusal to remedy the bolt issue that afternoon and put the winter tires on, the tire change was confirmed under the other account. Even then George maintained he wasnt sure hed have time to do the job that day. He did get it done basically after I refused to accept that they could break a bolt then not fix it even after acknowledging it was their fault. Very unpleasant interaction and the worst customer service in memory.When I went to pick up the car an hour later George apologized and comped the tire change but when I pulled out there was a grinding noise. I had to stop a few kilometres out as the rear brakes were red hot and there was a burning smell. The car had to be towed back to Canadian Tire as it was undriveable. When they did the (unsolicited) inspection they did something to the brakes which rendered the car, which had zero issues before, suddenly undriveable. The car is now is sitting outside Canadian tire in the parking lot waiting for the shop to open at 8 am Tuesday morning.
The last 3 times I have came here looking for a big item I have been denied due to lack of staff that are able to run the machine to grab the item from the warehouse. Every time I have came in its been around 4:30 - 5 PM. I walked to the service counter to ask someone to bring it to the front.. the boy that came to the front asked what I wanted and rolled his eyes and walked away. 5 minutes later we were told no one can get it for us and they would take our information for when they have someone on shift. When I asked why there was no one able the cashier told me only during the day that they have people qualified. 3 times I have had to go to Walmart or home hardware. It is such an inconvenience. There was countless young boys and girls walking around the store doing absolutely nothing, maybe train them in areas that are needed. I am tired of being turned away from this store because none of the kids have access to something IN STOCK.
I found George who is service Manager, very helpful and they not only fixed my puncture but gave me a list of things they found on my Car that needed attention without me asking....as a women alone I needed that help....so went back and made appointment to correct the faults..thanks George.
Limited selection compared to other stores. Prices can be good on sales. Lots of parking. Line ups are not bad cept when busy then it can be very slow to get threw.
